  • Duration | 30 mins
  • Cost | $30 - $40

Some people are gifted with beautiful eyebrows and know exactly how to groom them. But most of us are better off with professional help if not on a regular basis, then at least once, just to see how they should be shaped, and then you can maintain them on your own.

Just like an interior decorator can give you a brand-new perspective on your living room, an eyebrow specialist can transform the way you see your facial features.

What is eyebrow shaping?

Eyebrow shaping is the grooming of the eyebrows, typically by plucking, tweezing or waxing to suit the facial features. The three main techniques used by beauty salons to shape your eyebrows are waxing, threading and Electrolysis. It is an inexpensive way to pamper yourself.

Tweezing

Pros: The most popular technique, plucking guarantees a clean, shapely arch.
Cons: Since it requires precision, it can take time and be pricey.

Waxing

Pros: This inexpensive and fast method pulls hairs out by the roots.
Cons: With less control than tweezing, mistakes are more common. It's not a good option for people with sensitive skin or those using retinol-based skin creams, because when skin is fragile, it can peel off with the wax.

Before you get your eyebrows shaped professionally

Ideally, you should come to your appointment with at least two to four weeks of hair growth the more hair your esthetician has to work with, the better.

Why should i get my brows shaped by professionally?

It’s easy to overdo it on your own. If you make the mistake of removing too many or the wrong hairs, they can take a long time to grow back and sometimes never do. Plus, how many of us tweeze stray hairs in a hurry as we’re running out the door? A professional will take the time to do a good job and is better at seeing the big picture.

How often should you maintain your eyebrows?

About once a month is the norm for professional brow upkeep.

Will getting my eyebrows shaped hurt?

Getting your eyebrows shaped by a beautician will hurt, but a soothing treatment will be applied after. There may be a little redness and raised skin, but this should go down after a few days at the most.
